DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway

The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway is a BACnet device that can perform basic I/O control and route between BACnet/IP and BACnet MS/TP. To enhance its routing capabilities, the device can be used in BACnet Broadcast Management Device (BBMD) or Foreign Device (FD) mode and accepts Foreign Device Registrations (FDR) when in BBMD mode. The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway also supports Modbus RTU master mode and Modbus TCP Client mode to facilitate communication between BACnet and Modbus networks. These Modbus devices can communicate with other BACnet devices by being assigned to virtual devices within the DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway. This gateway function is only supported unidirectionally, from BACnet to Modbus. The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway can notify subscribed devices about changes in the values and states of objects using the COV service.

Basic BACnet I/O Controller

BACnet supports 6 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs. These I/Os can be controlled from any port of the device. The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway supports the following services:

  • Read Property
  • Write Property
  • Read Property Multiple
  • Write Property Multiple
  • Reinitialize Device
  • Who-Is / I-Am
  • Who-Has / I-Have
  • Subscribe COV
  • Confirmed/Unconfirmed COV Notifications

The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway hosts the following BACnet objects within the device:

  • 1 x Device Object (DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway)
  • 4 x Network Port Object (2 x RS485, 1 x Ethernet, 1 x Wi-Fi)
  • 6 x Binary Input Object (6 x Digital Input)
  • 2 x Binary Output Object (2 x Digital Output)
  • 1 x Integer Value Object (Wi-Fi RSSI)

BACnet Router

The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway has 4 available communication ports: 2 x RS485, 1 x Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and all these ports support the BACnet protocol. The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway can perform data routing and conversion between these ports. These ports can be configured in more detail according to user needs. All ports except Ethernet can be disabled.

BBMD

The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway can function as a BACnet Broadcast Management Device (BBMD) to communicate between different IPv4 subnets. Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi have separate Broadcast Distribution Table (BDT) and Foreign Device Table (FDT) tables. Each table can hold up to 10 records per port.

BACnet Gateway

Any of the device's ports can be configured as a Modbus port. Each Modbus read can be assigned a Modbus tag, and this Modbus tag can be assigned to one of the existing twenty virtual BACnet devices and one of the following virtual BACnet objects:

  • Binary Input
  • Binary Output
  • Binary Value
  • Analog Input
  • Analog Output
  • Analog Value
  • Integer Value
  • Positive Integer Value
  • Large Analog Value

Virtual devices support the following services:

  • Read Property
  • Write Property
  • Read Property Multiple
  • Write Property Multiple
  • Who-Is / I-Am
  • Subscribe COV
  • Confirmed/Unconfirmed COV Notifications

There can be up to 200 Modbus tags. These Modbus tags can be read when a BACnet read property service is received or periodic readings can be made by creating a new Modbus node. There can be up to 20 Modbus nodes.

COV Subscription/Notification

The DC620 DUAL BACnet IoT Gateway and its virtual devices can accept COV subscriptions to notify the subscribed device of value and state changes. The maximum number of supported subscribers is 100. Only 3 subscriptions can be made per existing object.
