Built-in I/O and Connectivity Interfaces

The ModProBus LRW842 LoRaWAN Controller provides built-in digital inputs/outputs, analog inputs, and industrial communication interfaces required for field applications.

  • 8 × Digital Inputs (optically isolated)
  • 4 × Relay Outputs (NO contacts)
  • 2 × Analog Inputs (0–10 V / 4–20 mA)
  • 1 × 10–30 VDC Power Input
  • 1 × RS485 (isolated)
  • 1 × Ethernet (10/100 Mbps)
  • 1 × Wi-Fi (Access Point / Station mode)
  • 1 × LoRaWAN® v1.0.3 Wireless Communication (Class C)

LoRaWAN-Based I/O & Controller

The ModProBus LRW842 LoRaWAN Controller goes beyond a standard LoRaWAN end device. With its integrated digital I/O and analog input structure, it is capable of collecting field data while also making local decisions using its built-in rule engine. This architecture reduces dependency on central systems and enables distributed automation designs.

Automatic Data Collection

The ModProBus LRW842 LoRaWAN Controller can collect data from other ModProBus LRW842 LoRaWAN Controller devices, PLCs, and radio frequency-connected Modbus sensors at user-defined intervals. Optionally, it can transmit this data to third-party software using the MQTT protocol.

Local Decision-Making with Built-in Rule Engine

The ModProBus LRW842 can execute threshold checks, logical operations, and condition-based actions directly on the device without requiring a central PLC, SCADA, or cloud system. This allows I/O transfers and control scenarios to be implemented in a distributed and scalable manner over the LoRaWAN infrastructure.

Intelligent Data Transmission (COV – Change of Value)

Thanks to its built-in Change of Value (COV) mechanism, the ModProBus LRW842 transmits only meaningful data changes over the LoRaWAN network. This approach reduces unnecessary data traffic, optimizes LoRaWAN network capacity, and improves overall energy efficiency.

Peer-to-Peer LoRa Control

Operates in peer-to-peer LoRa mode when LoRaWAN infrastructure is not available. Enables direct device-to-device communication for localized automation and control scenarios.

Application Areas

  • Industrial
  • Automation
  • IoT
  • Data Collection

Industrial

  • Wireless communication applications between industrial devices such as PLCs, HMI Panels, Modbus RTU sensors, and RTU units.
  • Remote control and monitoring of machines (Production Tracking and Management).

Automation

  • With the embedded I/O module supporting Modbus TCP/IP and Modbus RTU, it provides an excellent solution for remote I/O applications.
  • The use of Modbus-supported I/Os eliminates the need for additional PLCs in many applications, reducing costs.

IoT

  • Can automatically collect data and transfer this data to third-party software using the MQTT protocol.

Data Collection

  • The ModProBus LRW842 LoRaWAN Controller can collect data from other ModProBus LRW842 LoRaWAN Controller devices or from PLCs and Modbus sensors connected to these devices via the Modbus protocol at user-defined intervals.
